"Sparrow Falls, Tonight on HBO"
by kristophine

God watches television. Cable glows
Behind the curtains, and the stars go black
As clouds weirdly flicker. Rains patters, glows.
The buttons on the remote go: *tic-tac*.
The sparrow in bright air begins to fall.
God hesitates. He draws breath. His eyes shift.
Against the distorted grass, it is all
He can see. God's voice is supposed to lift
Above the mortal plain, but it seems strange
To Him, who never meant this world's end,
That His children should be so swept by change.
What death matters? What frailty or friend?
He sighs as the sparrows freezes and dies,
Flips to channel 7. He closes His eyes.
